HyBan Hybrid Water Heater
No pool? No problem. You can also cash in on the free energy from the sun. With a modification to your existing water heater, you can save $400-$500 per year, depending on how much hot water you use. Any plumber can affix our HyBan Solar Assistant to the top of your water heater, and you're then in the solar energy business.
How It Works
The HyBan system uses two sensors and a pump connected to a controller. You set your desired temperature, and the controller takes over.

This is a representation of the functional layout of the HyBan Hybrid water heater. Combining the free energy of the sun with a standard electric water heater, you'll save around $500 in electrical costs over the period of one year.

When the panel temperature is above the current temperature of the water in the tank, the controller will activate the pump and begin pumping water from the tank through the panel.
When the temperature of the panel on the roof falls below the temperature of the water in the tank, the controller turns the pump off. This cycle continues until your desired water temperature is achieved and then cycles on and off to maintain this temperature. Throughout the day, you have 80-120 gallons of very hot water that is ready for use when you want it, either during the day or in the evening. The next day, it will once again be heated by the sun at almost no cost. And of course, it works while you're using hot water during the day — cycling and heating the newer, colder water all day long.
The heater pays for itself in just under two years — quicker than that if you apply and qualify for the Florida solar rebate.
